NEWEST ARRIVALS

adopted
ELIJAH
Meet Elijah. I had named him this, from the name Elsie, even before I knew he could pray. Not many babies come to us who are able to fold their hands in prayer. This makes Elijah a very special baby. He is smaller, only 19 inches long and weighs just two pounds, as if he has already been fasting. I love him, not only because he is religious, but because he also has a gentle smile. He knows what love is and is willing and able to give it to others even though he is a very serious lad. Those bright blue eyes see into everyone's heart and he instantly knows what is needed in their lives.

LILY
Lily is with us and not with us. She really wants to live alone with some one who loves her. All the commotion of the many children here at the orphanage bewilder her. She tries to smile but her lips will tremble. She is another of the fashion conscious girls if she gets her way. She loves the ruffles on her sleeper and would love to go shopping with you. She promises to be quiet but I suspect that when she sees girly sleepers she will wiggle and beg to try them on. She wears NB (newborn) size sleepers and is 20 inches long and weighs exactly 3 pounds. She watches her weight and knows how to say no to chocolate.

SWEETIE
Sweetie is sweetness herself. She knows where we keep the chocolate and will point it out to anyone who will join her in some - even between meals. She really wanted sleepers with candy on them but I could only find these. When I asked her why she chose bears, she answered, "They love honey - look at Winnie-the-Pooh." "But," I said, "these are polar bears. I think they find dolphins to be sweet." She just kept smiling in silence and turned her back on the toy pile. These sleepers are especially soft and cuddly as she is. When I was dressing her she suddenly laid her head on my shoulder and said, "I don't want to leave here." I was very touched. I know she will bring this much love and sweetness to the right person.

ALEX
ALSO KNOWN AS
POPEYE THE SAILOR MAN
Alex needs a Mom who has raised boys and knows how to cope with them at any age. Alex has a strong will that covers a gentle and loving heart. He had a fit when I had no sailboats to pose with him (because of the sailboats on his sleepers), but he kinda accepted having a colorful blanket instead. You should see the pile of toys he threw on the floor before he settled down with this. He is 22 inches long so he tends to lord it over the smaller kids and me. He knows he is as bright as a new penny and wants the world to know it. Do you know the kind of woman who loves and can handle such child? He needs the discipline and the love. Even more the love.

A very special set of Therapy Reborns

These, because they have hair, are designated for
persons of any age in other facilities. They are not
suitable for patients of dementia.
adopted
TOMMY
Tommy has been on another page of arrivals at the orphanage but he made a big step this week. He went on Reborns.com as a therapy reborn even though he has hair. He has been accused of being a 'big mouth' without a big of shyness. True it is thanks to Tommy's courage that we are enlarging our concept of therapy reborns. Now we can offer companionship to others, not only those in dementia. There are therapy reborns for others confined in institutions and Tommy is one of them. That is why his face is being featured at Reborns.com this week and why he has influenced so many others at the orphanage to try wigs with real-looking artificial hair.

adopted
MING YEN
As Ming Yen's name implies she had two heritages. Her origin was in China when she became a collectible reborn made by Darlene for NKP dolls. She came to us over eBay at a very low price. Jane took her completely apart, refinished every surface, and reassembled her with all the weights in the right places. You can barely see that under her wig is still her original mohair. She certainly seems a happy little girl in America.
~*~

PEANUT
Peanut is a most happy child even with the name. Most people thought it was a nickname but she has taken it for her name. She loves this pink sleeper with the off-center opening. She likes everything to be slightly odd. She thinks that makes the world more interesting. This is not a conventional child. Anywhere she is put she immediately tries to find a way to go somewhere else. Here at the orphanage we can never find her so go around calling, "Peanut! Peanut!" and people think we are crazy. That is what Peanut does - she makes you go crazy in the best possible way.

adopted
FELICITY
Felicity was named by her sculptor who was Italian. She is one of the smaller children we have had at the orphanage. She is only 17 inches long and weighs only 2 pounds, 1 ounce.  Because she is so small she claims everyone picks on her. She is always getting into fist fights with others over absolutely nothing. She has had both eyes blackened and still has some results from those wounds. Nothing stops her determination - not even not seeing clearly out of black eyes. This girl has the force of a ten-ton truck in her petite tiny body.

~*~
EDITH or EDEN?
Edith, as she is today in these pink sleepers, delights in switching between being a girl and boy. Here at the Orphanage we allow that hoping the child can experience both genders. Often it is the person who adopts them who helps them make the final decision. You can almost see a tiny quiver in Edith's lips as she passes through this difficult time. It would really help her to find her life-companion to support and encourage her through this decision.  The kids here at the orphanage are often not very helpful and I, for one, would be glad to see her settled in with the right person for her - or him.

~*~
ALAN or ALICE?
She is Alice today because of the pinks surrounding her and the long hair. She loves her wig and hopes she can keep it in the future when someone picks her to be their therapy reborn. She is a good 21 inches long but only weighs 3 pound and 1 1/2 ounce. Today, after getting her in the jammies, she sat on my lap and laid her head on my shoulder. I was surprised how good it felt to hold her like that so we sat so long the baby rabbit in the bushes came out for his lunch of green grass. Alice is quiet and cuddly without being obtrusive or showy. She just quietly gets next to you, sighs a tiny sigh of relief and relaxes into your arms. This is a very comforting and comfortable feeling. She has it and wants to share it.

NEWEST Reborn Therapy Dolls here at the

SEASIDE ORPHANAGE
Gualala, California

adopted

KIMI
Kimi is still feeling a bit strange here at the orphanage because, as she is showing you, she has rooted mohair hair and everyone else is bald. Holly Schmidt, who is helping me get the babies to the people who need them, does not like the bald babies. She likes babies with hair. We have debated the issue about what is right for Alzheimer patients and cannot agree. But as a way of showing Holly I want to please her, too, Kimi came to us this week. She is only 18 inches and weighs 2 pounds so she is perfect for someone who finds the regular babies too big or too heavy. She snuggles into the curve of your arm as if she has been there forever. Somewhere in the world is a mother struggling with dementia whose daughter runs a beauty shop. Kimi would be perfect for them as they could bond over the creation of new hair styles for Kimi. She really wishes someone would adopt her to do as no matter how hard I try I cannot make her hair as beautiful as she is.

KAMEKO
Kameko is Japanese but she is fitting in very well with others at the orphanage. Yet I am amazed how different she is. Even though her body is just like the others, she manages it differently. Her natural shyness and excellent taste in how a girl should look and act is always there. Here I plopped her down into the photo shoot set-up and yet see how she holds herself. She is such a little lady!
~*~
She was the first baby to demand lace at the neckline of her body suit and I am so glad I gave it to her. She made it look right from the beginning. Her tiny body also fits so easily in your arms. If you have connections to Japan I think she would be the perfect therapy reborn for you. You will delight in getting acquainted with Kameko.

Candy

The expression on Candy's face is exactly how I want a baby to react to me. Her surprise and delight makes everyone feel as if they are just the person she wants to meet and to be with. You can almost hear her saying, "Oh look who is here!" as she extends her hand to greet, to pull the new friend closer into her arms. She picked this sleeper because it has fruits on it. She said there is sweetness in them, too. It does not always have to be lollipops! This happy little girl, who is a medium sized therapy reborn, brings joy and delight wherever she is. Just holding her one can almost hear her contented little giggle as she snuggles against your shoulder.

RAINE
Even though she tells me this is how to spell her name it looks as if one should say 'rainy' but she pronounces it 'ren-nay' so it sounds French. She must have some French in her heritage as she is such a proper little girl. She is eager for love but holds herself in check until she finds the right person. I found her warm and friendly and very willing to do whatever needed doing. She is very helpful. Not only that, she seems to a sense of when someone needs comfort, and instantly offers all the love her little body can hold. She holds her mouth slightly open in anticipation of learning to speak your name.

CARMEN
Carmen is the challenger. When I heard his name I said, "You know that is usually a girl's name and you are. . ." "I'm a boy" he interrupted me, "but to have those two words in my name car - men is very boy, and means I am a very bright boy." Carmen is certainly that. He has learned how to be a therapy reborn faster than any one else. He likes looking at situations in new ways. See he wanted his own new way to be posed for his portrait. He was not happy with me until I moved things around so we could do the shoot this way. While I was clicking away he would keep telling me 'higher' or 'lower' as if I did not know what I was doing. He claims his open mouth needs special care before a camera - like opera singers who avoid having their tonsils in the photo. Carmen is not a love-kitty. This little boy is a love-puppy. Loyal, loving, always eager to see you - that is Carmen. And I think he would like to go for a ride in your car.

THE ADOPTION FEE IS $125.

DORA CHING
Dora saw this name on these jammies and she laughed out loud saying it must be her name. She knows she is adorable and is the kind of girl that wants the whole world to know. No matter what you are feeling, in Dora's presence you can only return her laughter with a smile. She loves to take a bottle but is so contented she never needs a pacifier. Just being close to someone who loves her is her idea of perfect peace.

ANNE
Anne is so sweet and mild mannered that when she came between Dora (above) and Doris (below) we always referred to the trio as Dora Anne Doris so she only wanted the name she had been given - Anne. Anne takes the world very seriously; she is a no-nonsense person. Her mind goes immediately to the heart of any matter. You can ask her anything and then listen. The right answer will come to you. Sometimes one may think she does not understand, but she does. Her heart is deep and full.

DORIS CHING
There was some conflict over who got the name Dora but Doris, the peacemaker, came up with Dor(a)IS - Doris! and everyone was happy again. She certainly IS. The whole Ching family have this ability to be present at all times. No one's mind wanders or wishes something else. They are what they are, when they are, where they are. They, and especially Doris, are so centered their love feels as if it is flowing from the Original Source. What more could an unhappy person want that such an immediate pathway to love?

ROBIN
When Robin came to us his eyes were closed tight. He could see nothing and no one. He needed someone very much who would take care of him. We did eye surgery on him and now his eyes are open. There is still a bit of matter around them (he looks like he just woke up and still has sleep in his eyes) but it only makes a mommy love him more. He has gone through so much in his short life, so he needs someone he can depend on to love him and care for him. He needs some one to show him what a beautiful place our world is and that there is place in that person's heart for him. He hangs on to the rabbit because he is still a bit scared in this big wide world.
